2. Play Games

Board games are also an inexpensive and time-consuming way to have fun at home. There are so many varieties and options to choose from, such as Monopoly, Scrabble, Jenga. Go to your local grocery store and see what games intrigue your family specifically. You can also play games without purchasing anything. Some include tag, heads up seven up, or Simon Says. There are plenty of movies that have prequels and sequels, including Harry Potter, Star Wars, and so much more. Pick a genre that relates to your family that everyone will enjoy. Create and plan a whole evening viewing these movies. Be sure to have snacks prepared such as popcorn, ice cream, and candy! If you want to think outside the box, find decorations that go with the house and decorate together. You can even arrange your snacks to match the theme of the movies.

4. Have an Indoor/Outdoor Scavenger Hunt

Everyone loves finding hidden things. Come up with a list of things that need to be found and pass it out to everyone. The things can be inside your home or even outdoors around the yard. You can even put things in the form of clues, and have everyone figure out what the object is. Have a small prize for the winner.

5. Host an International Dinner Night

As a family, pick out a country you would like to learn more about, are interested in, or maybe traveling to in the future. Find dishes that are unique to that particular country. Prepare dinner with your family that would be served in that country.

Everyone can even dress up in clothing from that specific country and wear it to dinner. Each family member would be responsible to bring one fact about the country to share at dinner time. For example, you could choose Italy. You could prepare Bicerin, Gelato, or Pizza.

Someone can create a playlist to play for dinner, as Italy is famous for its operas. Plan for an evening of creative learning time!

Personalize this and make it your own!

9. Have a Spa Night

Plan an evening where you can do an at-home spa night. Light candles, put on relaxing music, and make your atmosphere resemble a spa. You can do facials, manicures, and pedicures. You can also have bubble baths. Schedule it so that each person is doing a different thing and rotate the process. Your family will enjoy this time of pampering and relaxing together.

10. Have a BBQ

It’s always a good time when there’s BBQ involved. You can cook up food for your family and eat outside or inside together. After you are finished, you can have a bonfire and make s’mores together.
